As a completely American-founded company, Vivitar has established itself in a
normally foreign-saturated market. From it's 1938 beginning years in Newbury
Park, California to it's evolutionary rise to a worldwide distribution power,
the Vivitar name has become a part of the photographic world's lexicon.
In 1995, the company launched a digital and electronic line of cameras. After
doing so, many previous fans of the company decided to purchase Vivitar digital
cameras while new fans were instantly created as well. Because of this, there
are many Vivitar used film cameras out there, waiting to be resold and reused.
