Olympus C-725 - 3.0 Megapixel Digital Camera with 8x Optical Zoom

Whenever I'm talking about digital cameras and the name Olympus comes up, I like to stop for a moment and mention my respect for this company. Olympus is one of the best digital camera manufacturers in the world. Their products are always of the highest quality and their service is hard to beat. I've never had a problem with an Olympus and if I did, I know their excellent customer service staff would be right there to help.

Okay, now on to the particulars of the C725. This model is in Olympus's three megapixel family of cameras. This is middle of the road for digital cameras, and the C725 really does take some great photographs. It is one of the most affordable three megapixel digital cameras around today.

What really sets this camera apart is its zoom capability. It is what is referred to as an Ultra Zoom camera. It is, in fact, the Ultra Zoom model I recommend for first time camera buyers. I like it because it is so easy to use. Switching between picture settings is a snap. My favorite setting is the Night Scene mode. Taking good pictures after dark is a huge challenge in photography, and the Olympus C725 with Night Scene is a perfect solution to the problem.

If you buy from the manufacturer or from a good discount website, the C725 comes with a USB cable so you can easily transfer your pictures to a PC or laptop. This is a nice bonus because the C725's memory card is only 16 MB. You can, of course, upgrade to a card with more memory at any time

Step into the thrilling world of Ultra Zoom photography. With its 8x zoom power the 3.0 million pixel C-725 Ultra Zoom lets you get closer to the subject. No more will your point of interest be swamped by its surroundings. Instead of dots in a sports field, individual players can be zoomed in on. Birds high in a tree are no longer lost in the branches either. They can be brought in to fill the frame in all their fine-feathered detail and color.

Full Product Description:

Discover what's possible with Ultra Zoom photography.

The Olympus Camedia C-725 Ultra Zoom delivers 8x zoom power plus a wealth of photo features at a price to tempt even very cost-conscious users. It is therefore the ideal model for newcomers to the exciting world of Ultra Zoom photography.

With this three million pixel camera in your hand, you can do much more than take regular party and holiday snaps.

You can enjoy the new perspectives provided by 8x zoom power (equivalent to 40 - 320mm in a 35mm camera), this compact and lightweight model is very easy to use. With the Portrait, Sport and Night Scene programs you can quickly switch between the settings to suit the subject or situation.

For example:

By activating Night Scene mode, stunning pictures of a city after dusk are just a matter of pressing the button. These features plus a host of precision metering systems and the 3 million pixel resolution combine to ensure the results stand out with their sharpness and bright, lifelike colors - even when printed in A4 format. In addition, a QuickTime movie recording function allows you to capture short video sequences of your most memorable moments. And whatever the zoom power or distance to the subject, the electronic viewfinder always shows the exact scene to be captured for totally accurate framing.

The photos and movies are saved on the xD-Picture Card (a 16MB card is supplied with this camera), which offers very fast data transfer rates. Later, they can be effortlessly transferred to a computer thanks to the USB (AutoConnect) cable.
